App Review: CryptoTab Browser

App Review: CryptoTab Browser

I’ve been using CryptoTab Browser for a couple of months now. Time to write a review. Spoiler Alert: I like it quite a lot! ๐Ÿ˜‰

So… Let’s get into it, shall we? To improve readability I’ve divided this article in smaller segments for you which you can easily access by clicking one of the links down below:

About CryptoTab Browser

CryptoTab Browser is available for almost all major operating systems such as Windows and MacOs as well as Andoid and iOs. So we will not go into detail on how to install it on your individual platform. This, my friend, is up to you. ๐Ÿ˜‰

So there are two versions of CryptoTab Browser available: The free CryptoTab Lite with a basic Cloud Boost speed of 1.000 H/s and a Pro version with hashrate up to 1.500 H/s and advanced features. As you can already imagine, the Pro Version is not a free app. You would have to buy it from the respective app store. Around $2.50 for the paid version is not expensive at all and it will make it easier and faster to earn from your phone than the free version.

We reommend the Pro Version but for testing purposes you can try the free one first. Oh and please do not be scared in spending $2.50. I bet most of us had cups of coffee more expensive than that (well, at least if you live in the north western hemisphere – but you get the point). And if you use it for some time you will get your precious money back in a very short amount of time. ๐Ÿ˜‰

CryptoTab Browser has a similar interface as Google Chrome and Brave browser. You can download the CryptoTab browser quickly and for free from their website, on Google Play or Apple’s AppStore. Downloading takes less than 1 minute to complete.

All you need to do then is log into the browser using a Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, or VK account. You have to do this to keep track of your Bitcoin earnings and to ensure that you will receive any of them.

After login you are ready to start earning. Just click on the CryptoTab icon in the bottom of the screen and then click on CryptoTab Dashboard where you can start the mining process. Through the same way, you can turn off the mining anytime you want. It’s as simple as that.

Syncing your account onto other devices is also pretty easy and increases your earnings. All you need to do is log into the browser on another device and enter the same login details (Gmail, Facebook, Twitter or VK).

The Company behind it

Apparently CryptoTab Browser was developed by CryptoCompany Oรœ in Estonia. ‘Oรœ’ stands for ‘osaรผhing’, which means ‘private company’, by the way. So if you visit their website, you notice there’s not much to see. Just a list with their software solutions and a contact form. A quite positive surprise was an imprint on their website, which is not mandatory in the baltic states.

Just for the fun of it I looked up the company on Google Streetview. Not much to see there:

I tried to dig a little bit deeper but a WHOIS request was not very informational either:

The Whois and RDAP services are provided by CentralNic, and contain
information pertaining to Internet domain names registered by our
our customers. By using this service you are agreeing (1) not to use any
information presented here for any purpose other than determining
ownership of domain names, (2) not to store or reproduce this data in
any way, (3) not to use any high-volume, automated, electronic processes
to obtain data from this service. Abuse of this service is monitored and
actions in contravention of these terms will result in being permanently
blacklisted. All data is (c) CentralNic Ltd (https://www.centralnic.com)

Access to the Whois and RDAP services is rate limited. For more
information, visit https://registrar-console.centralnic.com/pub/whois_guidance.

Why? Well, many domain registrars now offer domain name privacy, which keeps the ownerโ€™s personal information from being listed in the WHOIS directory. Between that and GDPR legislation, the WHOIS directory is no longer a reliable way to find a domain ownerโ€™s personal contact information.

How do you get paid?

If you were expecting to get paid in cash with CryptoTab, you will be disappointed. You will only earn cryptocurrency from it, specifically Bitcoin. So, if Bitcoin is not your thing, then CryptoTab Browser is not for you. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚

Just a quick hint: If you’re not into Bitcoin at all, try HoneyGain or Freecash instead. The concept behind these two is comepletely different: HoneyGain lets you share your spare internet connection and can be used on multiple devices (there is no limit as fas as I can tell). Freecash (former Freeskins) works together with companies that want to advertise their apps and/or products. One typical way to earn some cash is filling out surveys. Both services offer multiple ways to withdraw your money, e.g. via PayPal. ๐Ÿ’ก

To withdraw your earnings, you will need to have a crypto wallet. A good piece of software is Guarda, which I am using myself as a wallet for multiple cryptocurrencies. As well as CryptoTab Browser, Guarda is featured on our ‘Free Crypto’-Page. Check it out. Now, before you can withdraw your earnings, you will have to earn at least 0.00001 BTC (which is roughly $0.47 at the time of this writing).

To maximize your earnings, I recommend that you use CryptoTab Browser as your default browser and use it as much as possible. The build-in adblocking feature comes in very handy too.

Oh, before I forget: Some so called ‘financial experts’ have a theory that in 10 years, one bitcoin could be worth $1 million. With that in mind collecting all this little bitcoin nuggets may not be the worst idea in the long run. ๐Ÿคซ

But, to be fair, there is also slight chance that we will wipe ourselves out from existence long before that. Climate change, nuclear war, yet another pandemic, someone pulling the internet’s plug or maybe an asteroid crashing on earth? Just pick one. So who knows? ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‚

How to get more out of it

The best way would be to introduce as many people as possible to the platform to take advantage of their 10 level referral system to get any noticeable return. The idea is really simple. You invite people to use CryptoTab using an invite link. When the person clicks the link, downloads CryptoTab and installs it on their computer or mobile, they will become your referral. Their affiliate program is 10 levels deep. So, when your referral invites another person to use CryptoTab and they accept, he or she will become your 2nd level referral and so on and so forth until the 10th level.

Thatโ€™s how their referral program works and it is actually a quite generous referral program compared to many others. So if you know others that might be interested in earning by mining, it definitely can be worth inviting them. The deeper the referral level, the lower the reward you will receive. Now, as shown in the photo above, for your level 1 referral, you will receive a 15% commission every time your level 1 referral earns using CryptoTab.

Take a look at the following table to make this a little bit clearer:

LevelEarnings
1st Level15%
2nd Level10%
3rd Level5%
4th Level3%
5th Level2%
6th Level1%
7th Level0.5%
8th Level0.25%
9th Level0.125%
10th Level0.0625%
CryptoTab’s referral program

The commission will be shouldered by CryptoTab and will not be deducted from your referralโ€™s earnings. Itโ€™s a nice way to earn a passive income considering it goes 10 levels deep. But you have to make sure the people you invite are really interested in using CryptoTab.

The downside to this opportunity is, if no one is mining, then you wonโ€™t earn. Que sera, sera. ๐Ÿ˜‰

So… Is it legit?

Since TrustPilot is one of my favorite research sources when it comes to App Reviews, I always check it first before considering in downloading a new crypto app. You should too. So CryptoTab Browser has a TrustScore of 3.4 out of 5. This is a little bit low you might say and you might be a little bit right. But if you dig deeper into the reviews, you get a different picture: Most people complain about low Hashrates (Duh! ๐Ÿคฆ) and withdrawals which take a couple of days.

I have not discovered anything negative happening through using the browser. As far as I can tell and have experienced, there is no danger in using it. My second withdrawal took a while, around three days or so. But to be honest, there could have been a holiday or something in between, I honestly don’t remember. ๐Ÿ˜œ

But please do not blame me for my incomplete memory. Just look at the facts on Bitcoin-Explorer. They pay out. Period. ๐Ÿ‘

Complaints

One thing is a bit annoying: Each cloud mining session only lasts three hours and has to be restarted. So if you are as crazy like us, you set an alarm clock on your phone. By doing this you can start up to six mining sessions a day. Even more, if you renounce sleep. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Some folks tried to automate the restarting part of the mining process by using a clickbot. Actually this is a clever idea. But please do not waste your time on this. I’ve tried it just for the fun of it and it did not work at all. Cheating is unfair.

A very cool marketing idea could be longer lasting mining sessions for Pro users. How about that, people of CryptoTab?

My second complaint is the simple fact that there is no native Linux build available. Well, I must admit, this a very subjective complaint. But nontheless: Come on, Devs! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Conclusion

CryptoTab Browser is quite a clever way to earn some Bitcoin. However, you arenโ€™t going to get as rich as Scrooge McDuck from it by simply browsing all day (which would be awesome ๐Ÿ˜‚). Just try it out. It is free of risk and you can earn a few extra bucks. Even more if you share your referral link. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
